125, Rue Montmartre

I guess it doesn't matter much, but this marks my 50th post. So I will take this moment and dedicate it to vanity, in which I will commemorate my success with the accompaniment of this awesome band.

125, Rue Montmartre were a emo/indie band from Bielefeld, Germany that existed from 1998-2000. Vocally, they're very soft and female-sung (though "spoken" is probably the more appropriate word). The guitar is gentle, jangly, trebley, and melodic, though does explode at some points. The bass is very prominent and grooves really well with the drums. The very little that they ended up doing is all really great and I highly recommend checking them out.

Ghostlimb

Ghostlimb are a three-piece hardcore band from Southern California. Super short, super fast, and super pissed with a sociopolitical consciousness is probably the best way to describe them. They share members with Graf Orlock and Dangers, so you know they kick ass as well. They just consistently pump out really good, really angry hardcore/punk music. Here's everything they've done with the exception of a discography cassette (which I can't find) that they put out in 2010 which includes their self-titled, Bearing & Distance, and their split with Fischer, all of which are included here. Enjoy.

The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die

The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die are an indie/emo/post-rock band from Willimantic, Conneticut that formed in 2009. Currently they have an impressive 8-piece line-up. Three of them used to be in My Heart To Joy. They incorporate tons of things into their sound that I'm not even going to attempt to describe. Whatever it is, it's really good. I mean REALLY GOOD. Everything they've done up to this point has not ceased to amaze, and they've finally got a full-length coming out very soon. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Put Out A Full Length. AOTY, AOTY, AOTY. Get stoked.

Native

Native are a four-piece post-hardcore/math rock band from Northern Indiana. They formed around 2006/2007. Since then, they've released things rather sparsely, and toured fairly frequently. Everything they've put out so far is really good, and they've got a new full-length coming out this year, which has been long-awaited. They're also a really tight live band, who I personally was really impressed by. They have this thing going on with quite complex, intricate dualling guitar parts, odd time signatures, and exploring different dynamics. Except perhaps vocally, which is usually pretty harsh and intense. Big influences on them might include These Arms Are Snakes, Maps And Atlases, Minus The Bear, and Russian Circles, maybe. Though in terms of similar sounds, contemporaries Kidcrash, The Reptilian, Caravels, Victor! Fix The Sun, Castevet/CSTVT, etc., might be better comparisons. Enjoy.

Suis La Lune

Suis La Lune are a screamo band from Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden that formed in 2005. They're heavily influenced by many of the big European screamo bands, such as Daïtro, Raein, La Quiete, Sed Non Satiata, and Louise Cyphre. However, they've developed a sound that allows them to hold their own. They use quite clean, noodle-y guitars, and always retain a sense of melody, even in their most chaotic moments. Vocally, they're incredibly desperate, passionate, and emotional, to the point that it sounds like they're crying half the time. It's not overdone or forced either, which is what makes them so great. They're quintessential modern screamo, and have already started to be a major influence on new bands. I love these guys, as I'm sure many of you do too. Enjoy.
